Men of the Bible [Part 2]

Joseph of Arimathea

By Sheilla Mo

I learnt a lot in church today.I hardly heard about this man but his profile is so remarkable!

Matthew 27:57-60 GNB

When it was evening, a rich man from Arimathea arrived; his name was Joseph, and he also was a disciple of Jesus. He went into the presence of Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. Pilate gave orders for the body to be given to Joseph. So Joseph took it, wrapped it in a new linen sheet, and placed it in his own tomb, which he had just recently dug out of solid rock. Then he rolled a large stone across the entrance to the tomb and went away.

Pastor elaborated on the three important things that we should learn from Joseph.

1. He was rich
It is important to be rich not for selfish reasons but to advance the Kingdom of God.Through your tithes and offerings, the lost are saved!

2. He was a disciple of Jesus Christ
He spoke about Jesus thus he was not ashamed of the gospel.

3. Because of his wealth,Pilate listened to him.
When you have money, you can be influential and talk to high ranked people like governors in your community. There is a saying in Asia that ''no money..no talk''Unfortunately it's the world that we live in.Christians should prosper for there is absolutely nothing wrong with it!The money that is in the wrong hands are choking the work of God.Your prayer is for God to make you rich so that you can be a blessing!

He further taught us it was very thoughtful of Joseph to give the land that he purchased to burry the body of Jesus.Joseph brought linen and and spises for the burial as well! How inspiring!
